European Union ROHS Directive
Gecko to be compliant July 2006

At Gecko Electronics Inc., we continue our work to achieve compliance with the European regulations ROHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances, Directive 2008/95/EC) which come in effect July 2006. For all of us, evaluating the composition of the parts used in the fabrication of our products destined to the European market and identifying replacement compliant components whenever needed is a priority.

ROHS directive, also known as “Lead-Free”, clearly establishes maximum concentration values for the various substances (see chart below)

Gecko has set as a goal to be compliant to this new regulation before July 2006. To do so, a special task force is working toward bringing our products ROHS compliant. Over the last few months, we have been making significant progress and we are committed to meet ROHS requirements in the timeframe that will satisfy our customers’ expectations.

Schedule of Implementation

December 2004 to December 2005 • Data research • Inventory transition to ROHS compliance parts. • Board assembly testing & verification of Lead Free solder manufacturing process.

January 2006 • Beginning of production transition at Gecko factory.

March 2006 • Majority of Gecko products for the European Market to meet ROHS requirements & be available   for sale.

July 2006 • Production and marketing of NON-ROHS compliant products for the European Market will cease.

Furthermore, Gecko will completely transition all its production of products for our other markets to RoHs compliant products within the next 18 months. Gecko Electronics Inc. will only supply ROHS compliant products as soon as our transition is completed. Please note that this process will not compromise performance nor reliability of our products in any way.
